For VIOLIN - Viola - Cello

Resounding Bow - Bow attachment

Ease the tension, enhance the tone

By making it easier to release habitual movements, the bow attachment enables lasting changes in your bow hold and technique

The bow attachment was developed for violin, viola, and cello. It is a flexible attachment with small movable nodules that simply slides onto the bow and can be used during regular practice After just a short time of playing with it, many users experience a noticeable relaxation in their bow hold that often extends through the arm and shoulder. This relaxation can last for several minutes or even hours and days after playing. In addition to the physical ease, the bow attachment also affects the sound, which players frequently describe as “fuller,” “richer in overtones,” and “louder.” For some, this change occurs immediately; for others, it appears after a few minutes or once they return to playing without the attachment. Each attachment is individually hand-cast and weighs approximately 3.5 to 4 grams.

Benefits of the Bow Attachment

  • The bow hand experiences a new sense of grip — one that remains even after removing the attachment.

  • The flexible nodules respond to the movements of the fingers, promoting greater awareness and control in the bow hold.

  • The arm, bow hand, and fingers naturally relax during practice.

  • You can simply practice as usual — no adjustments or compromises required.

Application

The attachment is used during regular practice. Simply slide it onto the bow and play with it for as long as it feels right — you’ll know when it’s enough. Ideally, it should be used regularly, for example a few minutes each day. Even using it once a week during lessons (if you don’t have your own attachment) can significantly contribute to a more refined and nuanced bow technique.

General information

Each piece is hand-cast through a meticulous process. Since the dimensions of bows can vary within each instrument group, the bow attachment is designed to flexibly adjust at key points within a defined range to ensure an optimal fit.

User instructions

Dear Customer,

You are now holding your hand-cast Resounding Bow attachment.
To ensure the best possible start, please take a moment to read the following instructions carefully.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly.

Storing the Bow Attachment

Protect your Resounding Bow: keep it free from dust and away from direct sunlight or UV exposure — the darker the storage, the better!
The material reacts to UV light, becoming harder over time and eventually brittle.

Attaching the Bow Attachment

Attaching it is very simple: just slide the attachment onto the bow stick. For detailed instructions on how to do this easily and safely, please refer to the section above (“Attaching the Bow Attachment”).

Cleaning the Bow Attachment

Because the attachment comes into contact with your hands, it can accumulate residue from sweat and natural oils. Clean it regularly with clear water. Do not use harsh detergents, cleaning agents, or solvents. A mild hand soap is always suitable. You can let the attachment air-dry or gently pat it dry with a lint-free cloth. Do not place it on a heater or use a hairdryer or similar device.

Important Notes

Use the attachment only for its intended purpose and keep it out of reach of small children. Overstraining the material by bending or excessive stretching, using unsuitable cleaning agents (only mild hand soap is recommended), exposing it to sunlight, or drying it with a hairdryer may damage the bow attachment.

Attaching

It’s very simple: Insert the screw of the frog through the ring at the end of the attachment, then slide the attachment toward the tip until the ring touches the wood of the frog.
Next, place the front ring (usually) over the (silver) winding. The bow will then rest neatly between the two longitudinal sides of the attachment.

The video shown beside demonstrates how to attach the bow attachment. To keep the fingers out of the frame for this recording, the bow was secured in place. Normally, this is done with one hand while the other holds the bow. Duration: approximately 3–5 seconds until the attachment is in place.

Special about the attachment

Bow aids usually impose some kind of limitation — this one expands possibilities!

A unique feature of this attachment is that, unlike others, it does not restrict or limit movement. On the contrary, it helps movements flow more naturally. This effect is achieved not only through its design but also through the material itself. The material and hand-crafted production currently make mass production—and therefore lower-cost manufacturing—impossible. Each bow attachment is individually cast, shaped, and hand-finished, much like the Resounding Fingerboard attachment.
